«Great Place to Work»: AstraZeneca Switzerland recognised as one of the «best employers» in the mid-sized category.

In the «Great Place to Work» award ceremony, AstraZeneca Switzerland has been honoured as one of Switzerland’s «Best Workplaces»  and has won the «Legend»  prize.  The crucial criterion for the awards was a successive series of certifications documenting the continuing satisfaction of the pharmaceutical company’s employees.

At this year’s «Award Ceremony 2023» presented by the employer platform «Great Places to Work» AstraZeneca Switzerland received an award as one of Switzerland’s «Best Medium Workplaces» which is presented to medium-sized firms. In addition, the pharmaceutical company received the «Legend» employer award for long-standing employee satisfaction.

Around 50 companies in various categories took part in the award ceremony at Kaufleuten in Zürich. This year is the fifth time that AstraZeneca has won the «Great Places to Work» certification and was therefore invited to the gala event.

Great emphasis was placed on the commitment and cohesion of the entire team.

«We are proud to have been certified for the fifth time in succession and to now also have won the award.  We are especially pleased by the positive overall assessment, which is a measure of fairness, diversity in practise, and open dialogue among employees.  Such success is made possible only by the commitment and collaboration of the entire team.  These values form our common foundation and provide us with the impetus to achieve great things,» said Katrin Lipp, Human Resources Director at AstraZeneca Switzerland.

Our Swiss site has international flair, because there are around 180 employees from about 20 different nations working there.  The workforce is diverse, consisting of 57 percent women and 43 percent men.  In addition, over 54 percent of management positions are held by women.

A survey of employees reveals great overall satisfaction.

Employee satisfaction was determined by means of an anonymised employee survey. «This is a good instrument which allows firms to determine the level of satisfaction in the firm and to recognise which areas have potential for optimisation.  In this way we aim to give our employees a voice and to direct our actions efficiently to respond to their needs,»  states Lipp.

In the context of the 2023 «Great Place to Work» survey, 97 percent of employees rated the workplace culture at AstraZeneca as «outstanding» and 93 percent of respondents were satisfied with the firm’s strategic orientation. In addition, 98 percent of those surveyed were of the opinion that there were equal rights for all genders, while 99 percent of employees reported equal rights as regards sexual orientation.

A good workplace culture as a formula for success.

Inclusion and diversity are alive and well at AstraZeneca Switzerland, thus forming the foundation of company culture.  Moreover, the management style is designed to be dynamic and inclusive, with transparent decision-making and employees consulted on strategic issues.  This is the recipe for successful goal-oriented collaboration. Building and maintaining a diverse talent pool provides the basis for individual options in professional advancement.  Alternative ideas and constructive feedback characterise communication within the entire firm, and provide the impetus for continuous optimisation processes that are designed to meet the needs of employees, thereby creating a modern working environment.
